Paragliding on the island la Palma

Paragliding on La Palma is often difficult. Even when you find opposite information in the web. If you are flying on la Palma without school or Guide, you should be absolutely sure in the interpretation of the weather situation. In addition, you should not only be an experienced pilot. Manouvers as spiral, B-Stall and Big-Ears in order to loose altititude should be well known by you. Althought the landing spot in Puerto Naos is good, precise landing skills are important too.

Pilots which do already have some experienced may book the ParaGuide Service of Palmaclub.

I am recommending all unexperienced pilots to visit la Palma only together with a paragliding school. Many are offering holidays on the island.

Most of the time we are flying in lee conditions on this island. The weather, specially the winds may change rapidly. It needs experience to discover those developments in the air. The winds are often strong. Good backwards starting technique is supporting you. If you are experienced enough and like to visit the island without school and guide, listen to the locals. And do not fly before you have talked to the local pilots!

You can download the info brochure from the Palmaclub. The most important informations are on a one page folder to print out.
