Tourism on la Palma

La Palmas tourism industry did grow very fast during the last years. 10 years ago there have been 5 international flights per week. Today there are more than 20. compared with the other very big tourism islands Gran Canaria and Teneriffe, la Palma is still quite. To stop uncontrolled growing, the Island Governement intruduced a law which does not allow more than 20'000 beds for the tourism industy. Together with the many private housing possibilities the final number definitively is much higher.

Lucky to say, la Palma is still quite. Maybe there is another factor. La Palmas does not have many beaches and they are in addition not ideal as there are many stones and only little sand. Therefore beach tourists are not attracted.

As on all other canarian islands, the biggest tourist community is built by the Germans. Therefore German language is often used. But to really get in touch with locals, Spanish is a must.
